Empathy Manifesto, by Carlotas

Empathy is an act of courage.

It is imperative to undress yourself before 'walking a mile in someone else's shoes'.
Free of judgments you can truly wear other people joys and dreams.
And also their fears and pains.

Empathy helps us understand that respect is not the end, but the beginning of the journey.
Because respect is presupposed on the attempt to open yourself to that new world.

Empathy is about going beyond headlines and posts.
It is to see what everyday life extinguishes and makes invisible.
Because life, really, is much more than we can see.
And there is no explanation that translates the life that another lived.

Empathy can cause us to discover ourselves as we learn about others.
The practice of Empathy fosters connection and the understanding that there is no human life more valuable than another and that together we are stronger.

More than understanding, Empathy is feeling.

If empathy had life, it would be the eyes of childhood.
No judgment and no prejudice.
Where everybody is welcome to join the game.
And that there are endless possibilities when staring at the unexpected.

What better way to talk about empathy than art?
It is art that lets us agree to disagree and understand each other as equals.
Everybody feels different things looking at the same image.

This manifesto is an invitation to a colorful
world of acceptance, respect and empathy.
A place where everybody realize that the world is one.
